Updated: Nov 10

While you have a life outside of the time you spend with your pet, you are your pet's entire life. So why not bring Fluffy or Fido along when you go out for a drink? Enjoy pub trivia without worrying about heading home early to let your pooch out for a bathroom break. These Chattanooga bars and breweries allow you to bring your pet inside.

Bless Yer Heart

233 E. M.L. King Blvd. |blessyerheartbar.com

Tropical drinks and tallboys are the specialties at this bar with Southern-themed decor. Pets are welcome indoors and outside on the patio at Bless Yer Heart, which, along with No Hard Feelings, is one of few pet-friendly watering holes that serve liquor. Try the Meemaw, a not-too-sweet tropical drink with tequila, raspberry, white crème de cacao and pineapple (recipe below).

The Greenhouse Barrel and Taproom

Focused on sour and farmhouse-style ales made using traditional methods, OddStory's Greenhouse is open only to adults age 21 and older and their furry, four-legged children. You can also choose from a selection of barrel-aged bevvies, wine and draft cocktails (including zero-proof options) in this plant-filled space as you play games and gather with friends with your dog by your side.

Hutton & Smith

While this taproom bills itself as a cat bar, dogs are also welcome to join you at the bar as you throw back a pint or two of the brewery's craft beers. Just don't bring human children -- Hutton & Smith's taproom is 21-plus.

LeRoy's Beer Lounge

304 Cherokee Blvd. | 423-541-6126 | leroysbeerlounge.com

This beer-only bar on the North Shore is dog-friendly both indoors and on its outdoor patio. It's small -- about 1,000 square feet, with room for about 30 people and a few dogs -- with a laid-back, friendly vibe that makes you want to be a regular.

Naked River Brewing & BBQ

1791 Reggie White Blvd | 423-541-1131 | nakedriverbrewing.com

Where else can you order a rack of smoked ribs for yourself and give your dog the bones? Between their outdoor patio facing Finley Stadium and their indoor accommodations for well-behaved and service dogs, they're absolutely dog-pawsitive. And with kid-friendly options on the menu and dozens of different beers, there's something for everybody at this historic, 11,000-square-foot indoor and outdoor restaurant.

Shady's Corner

1402 Cemetery Ave. | 423-654-9087 | shadyscorner.com

This joint welcomes all the humans and dogs who howl late into the night, with their open hours lasting until 3 a.m. Shady's Corner is known for its spinning "Wheel of Misfortune," which randomly changes drink specials by the hour, and the slogan "Good times for bad people." This bar appeals to the kinds of clientele who let sleeping dogs lie, so pick a night they have a food truck and down shots like your pup isn't watching.

How to Make the Meemaw From Bless Yer Heart

While loosely inspired by bar manager and partner Stephen Harper's meemaw's raspberry chocolate cake, the Meemaw from pet-friendly Bless Yer Heart is not a dessert cocktail. The blend of raspberry and chocolate is refreshing without being overly sweet, and the pineapple juice adds a light, tropical feel, he says.

"You want something that's appealing and crushable, but it can't be too sweet, and it can't be too sharp," Harper says, and the Meemaw's raspberry-chocolate combo does just that.

What you need:

1 ½ ounces tequila

½ ounce crème de cacao

¾ ounce pineapple juice

½ ounce lime juice

½ ounce raspberry syrup

Dehydrated lime wheel, for garnish

What you do:

Add first five ingredients to a shaker with ice, shake and strain into a glass over ice. Garnish with lime wheel and enjoy!
